Douloufakis Winery - Dafnios Red 750ml

The tradition and history of Douloufakis Family in vineyard cultivation and production started in 1930 when the grandfather Dimitris Douloufakis first established the professional wine production in old traditional premises. In 1952 Douloufakis Family participated in the 17th International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki and was awarded a title for the quality of its products. Nowadays the vine-yard cultivation and wine-production tradition of the Family is continued by the grandson Nikolas Douloufakis. Having studied Oenology in Italy (Alba Intituto Agrario-Spezialitato in Diviticultura e Enologia) he has proceeded to the renewing of the wine premises and to the production of superior quality wines from his own vine-yards. The vineyards are situated in hill slopes at an altitude of 300 meters and the cultivation is done by mechanical means. They cover 82 acres and are located in the heart of the vine region of Dafnes, in Heraklion, Crete. “Dafnios” is a red dry wine from Liatiko grapes. The grape extraction lasted 5-6 days and after the alcoholic fermentation the wine was matured in casks and aged for 6 months in new oak barrels, resulting a ruby color wine with fruity, spicy nose. It has a round mellow texture with very stylish, mouth filling, old fashioned that will delight the Liatiko fanatics.
