It's the place - name of vineyards and it has derived from the hares and the wild flower ''Asperoula'' which is a plant endemic in Crete (Asperoula rigida M.). In spring, the dry stone walls around the vineyard are full of these white flowers. Their drying sprouts are tha hares' favourite food, which show their preference for the area and many choose it as their nesting ground.
